There are two main types of fire pits. There are gas fire
pits and wood burning fire pits. While the performance of the
two is very similar they are also very different in other
aspects. Since patios usually have wood flooring it is best to
use a gas fire pit on a patio. Why you ask? Well, unlike wood
burning fire pits gas fire pits do not create ashes, embers, or
sparks. When using a wood burning fire pit you will notice
these items. The ashes are very difficult to clean up. Embers
and sparks can easily jump out of the fire pit and burn the
wood of you patio leaving a big disgusting burn mark on your
nice patio floor.
Not only will this cause a major eye sore on your patio
floor but it can be very dangerous. It only takes a few seconds
for a small ember or spark to ignite a large fire. So
basically, wood burning fire pits might be a little too messy
and dangerous to be used on patios. It is also a bad idea to
leave things on the ground near and around the fire pit
especially a wood burning fire pit. This is one of major
reasons why wood burning fire pits are not as popular for those
looking to use their fire pit on their patio.

"The next thing to take into
consideration is the convenience of using the different
types of fire sources, So what will it
be? gas better
than wood? Thats the big Fire Pit
question."
The next thing to take into
consideration is the convenience of using the different types
of fire sources. So why is gas better than wood? It can be very
difficult to take a fire using wood. It can take a long time
just to master the activity. Turning on a gas fire pit is very
easy and nearly effortless. You have to remember though that
there are two different types of gas fire pits for you to
choose from. There are natural gas fire pits and propane fire
pits. Either types if a much better choice than wood burning
fire pits when it comes to using the fire pit on your
patio.
So between propane patio fire pits and
natural gas patio fire pits which is the better?
Well, while natural gas is a good choice with a constant supply
of gas propane is definitely the better choice here. Even if
you already have a natural gas system installed in your home
propane fire pits are better. The main reason this is true is
because of the lines needed to run a natural gas fire pit.
These lines will end up getting in the way on your patio.
Propane fire pits on the other hand do not require as many
lines and pipe. The propane tank can be hooked up nearly
directly to the fire pit which places it out of the way.
